NEWARK, N.J. - Ottawa Senators goalie Craig Anderson felt he was playing well even if the results showed otherwise.Anderson put it all together against New Jersey on Wednesday night, making 34 saves in the Senators 2-0 win over the Devils.Kyle Turris provided the offence with a pair of goals. The spotlight clearly belonged to Anderson, who was 2-6-2 in his previous 10 starts.Things werent going as badly as they looked, Anderson said. I just had a couple bad bounces here and there. Hopefully, my luck changed for the good tonight.Anderson had some luck, but he was also very good. You have to give Craig Anderson credit, Devils coach Pete DeBoer said. We looked like we could have shot 100 pucks, and nothing was getting by him.Anderson earned his third shutout of the season and 29th in his NHL career. New Senators coach Dave Cameron improved to 2-1-1 since he replaced the fired Paul MacLean. The Devils, whose losing streak was extended to five games, went 0 for 5 on the power play — stymied by Anderson throughout.Turris gave the Senators a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal 2:47 in on Ottawas first shot of the game. Turris was off balance as he deflected Erik Karlssons point shot past Cory Schneider for his first goal in 11 games. He added an empty-net goal in the final second of the game. The Devils, lethargic at the start, picked up their game after falling behind. New Jersey outshot Ottawa 10-4 in the first period but couldnt beat Anderson.Patrik Elias, activated from the injured list earlier Wednesday, came closest with a drive that rang off the post. The frustration built for the Devils in the scoreless second period as they outshot the Senators 16-4.Anderson came up with save after save and stopped Jaromir Jagr twice early in the period. The first was Jagrs power-play blast from the left circle. Anderson later stretched to make a skate stop on Jagr, denying a 2-on-1 break with Scott Gomez.Anderson was on his toes throughout the period. One of his best stops was made with two minutes left when he turned aside a wrist shot by Elias.New Jersey kept pressing in the third, and Anderson made early close-in stops on Elias and Adam Henrique. We were all over him, getting pressure, but weve got to find a way to get one in, Henrique said. That game was there for us. Its a tough one to give up.Anderson almost scored in the final seconds into the empty Devils net, but his clearing shot rolled just wide.Ive waited my whole life for a chance like that and I may never get it again, Anderson said. I hooked it a little, considering Im a lefty. I knew I had to get it up in the air to have a shot. I thought it was in.The Senators, while happy with the victory, know they wont win many games being outshot 34-16.I dont think this was a game that we necessarily deserved to win, but well take it, Turris said.NOTES: The Devils opened a four-game homestand following a stretch of 15 of 20 games on the road. ... The last team in the NBA that will have any sympathy for the Thunder is the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are showing signs of putting everything together after two years of devastating injuries. https://www.cowboysjerseysale.com/ . Cowboys Jerseys 2020 . Johansen scored twice and Derek MacKenzie, Brandon Dubinsky and Cam Atkinson also had goals to lead the Blue Jackets to a 5-2 victory over the Washington Capitals on Thursday night, ending a three-game losing skid. Dallas Cowboys Shirts . And, just for good measure, lets say the lottery team finishes the game short-handed because two starters come down with the very same injury. When we look back on it from the sobering eyes of October, this winless, goal-less, and mostly lifeless week may have actually come at a good time for the Whitecaps. The good news; it took until the end of June to have really poor back to back games. But those pre-World Cup break thrills and spills, with seven goals in two away games feels like much more than two-and-a-half weeks ago. What this past week did was expose a glaring weakness; Vancouvers inability to break through clubs who dont give them space. One dimension the club has been missing since year one in MLS is an aerial threat from a corner, free kick or a Pedro Morales diagonal ball. Whether that attribute is on the resume of a future Centre Back, or they go after a traditional target striker come July 9...the Whitecaps must get more production from the dead ball. With arch rivals Seattle providing the last opposition before an opening transfer window, one wonders how proactive the Whitecaps will be to strengthen. This weekends opponents are runaway league leaders built almost exclusively with well-travelled MLS veterans. Is that an ingredient the club is missing, especially in these dog days of the MLS schedule? Media and supporters alike salivated over the prospects of youngsters Mattocks Manneh and Hurtado all starting together against the leagues worst team in Montreal; especially without three key components in Marco DiVaio, Justin Mapp and Felipe. Its very easy to say now, but what else was Frank Klopas going to do against the Whitecaps, but sit deep? That first hour on Wednesday was like watching three Ferraris trying to race around downtown Vancouver traffic. Lots of revving, but never the space to really get going, and eventually, stuck at a red light on a one way street. The onne outfield bright spot against the Impact was the evasive and adventurous Gershon Koffie, who for his efforts, was given a spot on the bench at Colorado.dddddddddddd His holding midfield colleague Mattias Laba, was by his standards anonymous Wednesday, and downright leg-less at Philadelphia. But Laba kept his place, and in Koffies absence, Russell Tiebert, a player who many observers find hard to clearly define. One neednt extol the young Canadians virtues - we all know what they are, and he still has enough years to evolve into that ideal position. But the buzzing and supporting and possessing all seemed rather superfluous when the Whitecaps were down two and needing some forward thrust. Koffie did come on at half-time, but even then it felt too late. Most worrisome in Colorado were the performances of Uruguayans Nicholas Mezquida and Sebastien Fernandez. Their country had been dispatched from the World Cup by Colombia earlier that day, and it almost seemed like the two were still in mourning. Neither player could complete a pass, and both looked like featherweights in possession getting brushed aside by stronger opponents. As eight unbeaten suddenly became winless in three, it will be really interesting to watch how Carl Robinson goes about building his team up in advance of the Sounders visit. Does he show patience with his young players to get back to their previous form, or with four games in two weeks looming - does he consider making changes. There must also be a voice in the back of his head telling him about the components his squad doesnt have. We know the man they call Robbo never backs down from a challenge. Hes also not backing down from any incoming phone calls either. ' ' '
