Running back Chris Johnson was a full participant at practice Thursday for the first time since joining the New York Jets after recovering from off-season knee surgery. "I felt good," he said. "I felt no pain or anything like that." Johnson, who signed with the Jets in April, had surgery on a torn meniscus in his right knee after last season. He played through the injury most of last season, when he ran for 1,077 yards -- the second-lowest total of his career. Johnson was limited throughout the off-season workouts and minicamp as the Jets tried to be cautious in getting him on the field. "Im ready to go do whatever they ask me to do," he said. Johnson, who rushed for 2,006 yards in 2009 with Tennessee, fumbled a handoff but showed off some of the speed that made him one of the leagues fastest players. He also lined up a handful of times at receiver, a spot where he could be frequently used with the Jets. Johnson had a career-high 57 receptions out of the backfield in 2011, and caught 42 passes last year despite dealing with the knee issue. With his speed, he could create big-time mismatches as a pass-catching back. "When you see Chris Johnson in the flat, theyre going to have to be mindful of that," wide receiver David Nelson said of opposing defences. "Theyre going to have to jump to that. When they do that, it opens up a lot of spaces and a lot of spots in the middle of the field. If they dont, hes going to take it to the house. "It opens up a whole different dimension for us, especially in the passing game." Fellow running back Chris Ivory was limited with a tweaked hamstring that coach Rex Ryan didnt believe was serious. Guard Willie Colon and linebacker Antwan Barnes, both on the active/physically unable to perform list while recovering from knee surgeries, worked out with trainers on the sideline during practice. Ryan indicated that Colon could return a lot sooner than Barnes. Rookie wide receiver Quincy Enunwa didnt finish practice with a hip injury. Tom Greene Jersey Store . New York Red Bulls. The loss drops Winnipegs record to 3-4 during this past weeks seven-game homestand. With less than one week to go until the March 5 NHL trade deadline, TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun has the latest on Ottawas Chris Phillips, Vancouvers Ryan Kesler, and the Rangers Ryan Callahan and offers some insight on their situations and potential trade status. What are the chances that Chris Phillips is still an Ottawa Senator after the trade deadline? Pierre LeBrun: Well theres still a chance, because the Senators are trying to sign him. They have already talked to him and they would like to do a one-year extension with him. If they get a yes on that extension, then he stays put, but if they cant get him signed it puts Ottawa in a tough spot because they are five points out - theyre not in a playoff spot right now. If the next couple of games dont go well, theyre even further apart from a playoff spot and I can tell you this, the Boston Bruins and Peter Chiarelli - who was formerly with the Ottawa Senators - knows Phillips and Boston would be all over him if hes put on the trade market by Ottawa. The next couple of games are huge in terms of his future and what the Senators do with him. Are there any new developments on the Ryan Kesler trade front? LeBrun: Kesler is the biggest name on the market right now. He didnt officially ask for a trade - I think thats true - but everyone knows that from both his side and the Canucks side, a changee of scenery might be the best thing.dddddddddddd I was told on Friday by a source, and this is now public, that the action has absolutely picked up and the phone is ringing off the hook in Vancouver. So many teams want to at least educate themselves about what it would cost to get in on the Ryan Kesler market. And again, the Canucks are telling everyone "we dont have to move him before Wednesday." If they dont get their price met (which is very high) then they can wait until June to possibly trade him. The Flyers, Blue Jackets, Red Wings - of course hes from Michigan - the list goes on as theres so much interest in Kesler. How does Dan Girardis six-year deal impact Ryan Callahan with the New York Rangers? LeBrun: I do feel in my heart of hearts that it has an impact and thats where it starts with Callahan. I have this gut feeling that he might soften on these contract demands and if he does, I think he can re-sign with the Rangers. And thats because this team is on a roll, hes the captain, and he and Girardi are close so look for that to maybe have an impact. But certainly if he doesnt soften on his contract demands then the Rangers are going to trade him. One small note on Girardi, by the way - his no-movement clause, which is in his new extension, starts right away. He doesnt have to wait until July 1 when his new deal kicks in. ' ' '

Naples, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Jason Day and Cameron Tringale continued their hot play on Friday as they teamed for an 8-under 64, which helped them push their lead to three strokes after two rounds of the Franklin Templeton Shootout. Day and Tringale finished 36 holes at 25-under-par 119 at Tiburon Golf Club. The teams played a modified alternate shot format on Friday after playing a scramble on Thursday. Saturdays final round will be a better-ball partner format. Graeme McDowell and Gary Woodland combined for a 9-under 63, the low round of the day Friday. They jumped into second place at 22-under-par 122. The defending champions, Harris English and Matt Kuchar, posted a 6-under 66 and they are alone in third at minus-21, while Charles Howell III and Scott Verplank carded a 64 to end two rounds at 19-under-par 125. The teams of Billy Horschel and Ian Poulter and Patrick Reed and Brandt Snedeker both posted 65s on Friday. They were joined in fifth place at minus-18 by Keegan Bradley and Camilo Villegas, who shot 5-under 67 in round two. MORE TO FOLLOW. Although Silva is serious about getting his belt back in the main event at UFC 168 on Saturday night, the Brazilian wont say whether hell drop the carefree style that has defined his career. At UFC 162 last July, Silva (33-5) was pretending to be hurt when Weidman (10-0) actually cold-cocked him for a stunning victory. The result upended the MMA hierarchy, catapulting Long Islands Weidman to stardom and ending Silvas near seven-year title reign. "Maybe I have the chance to change things," Silva said at his gym in Torrance, Calif., this month. Silva believes he can reverse the result in the rematch, but he wont swear off the taunting and goofiness that has become his signature alongside his unmatched striking abilities. In fact, Silva doesnt even see his style as anything less than serious. "When I go inside the ropes for a fight, I dont joke," said the fighter known for standing with hands on hips and chin protruding, daring opponents to hit him. "I train hard mentally for this fight," Silva added. "I watched the last fight, and I see my technique, and I talk to my friends and coach. I dont train too much. My mental (approach), I change. Yet Ed Soares, Silvas longtime manager, doesnt expect Silva to fight stiffly or formally in the rematch. "Why would he change? He wouldnt change," Soares said. "Its him. Its like asking Kobe not to shoot a certain way." Under normal circumstances, the method of Weidmans victory — a second-round knockout of a long-reigning champ — would have cemented the Hofstra alumnus as a major star.
