PHILADELPHIA -- The Cleveland Cavaliers entered the All-Star break as one of the hottest teams in the NBA. The time off didnt slow them down. Tyler Zeller scored a season-high 18 points and grabbed a career-best 15 rebounds, Kyrie Irving added 14 points and the Cavaliers pushed their winning streak to five games Tuesday night with a 114-85 victory over the skidding Philadelphia 76ers. Irving, selected MVP of the All-Star game Sunday with 31 points and 14 assists, played only 23 minutes in this rout. The Cavaliers won their final four games before All-Star weekend and came out of the break with the same intensity. "Give the guys in the locker room credit," Cleveland coach Mike Brown said. "Theyve done a great job. Our guys just keep fighting." Dion Waiters had 13 points before leaving with a knee injury in the second quarter. Luol Deng also scored 13 and Tristan Thompson had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Cavaliers (21-33), on their longest winning streak since an eight-game run in March 2010. That was LeBron James final season in Cleveland. "Were playing together and were working together," said Zeller, who had his second double-double of the season and the ninth of his career. "When you play together and have success and win, it kind of takes some of the stress off." The reeling Sixers fell to 15-40 with their ninth loss in a row and eighth straight at home -- their longest skid since the 1996-97 season. Philadelphia has dropped 19 of 22 overall. C.J. Miles scored 10 points and Anthony Bennett had 10 points and 11 rebounds in a balanced effort for Cleveland. Thaddeus Young and Michael Carter-Williams led the Sixers with 15 points each. Tony Wroten had 12 and Evan Turner scored 11. Before the game, the buzz in the Philadelphia locker room centred around Young, Turner and Spencer Hawes. All three players have been mentioned in trade talk with the deadline looming Thursday. Maybe that affected the last-place Sixers because they came out sluggish and struggled all night. Late in the third quarter, fans expressed their displeasure with boos throughout the arena. "Were all sticking together, trying to keep this locker room together," Young said. "The biggest thing is going out there and staying focused." For the Cavaliers, the news wasnt all good. Waiters hyperextended his left knee following a spectacular, one-handed dunk with 54.1 seconds remaining before halftime. He stayed down on the court for several minutes before walking to the locker room on his own. Brown didnt have an immediate update on Waiters following the game and believed he would be examined further. Waiters never returned, but the Cavaliers didnt need him the rest of the way. They built a 64-43 lead at halftime and extended it to 85-62 after the third. Even with such a large cushion, Cleveland stayed sharp and outscored the Sixers 8-4 to open a 93-66 advantage slightly more than 2 minutes into the fourth. Philadelphia didnt pose a serious threat the rest of the night. "There were effort problems," Sixers coach Brett Brown said. "You cant hide from that." NOTES: Carter-Williams had five turnovers and no assists in the first half. He finished with seven turnovers and one assist. ... Kevin Grow joined the Sixers on Monday with a ceremonial two-day contract. Grow, who has Down syndrome, played his final two varsity basketball games for Bensalem High School and scored 14 points, including a buzzer-beater to win a game. Grow took part in pregame activities with the 76ers and received a jersey. ... Cavaliers C Anderson Varejao missed the game with a sore back. Brent Barry Jersey . The Boston Celtics hadnt played since the All-Star break. Kelli Stack and Alex Carpenter also scored for the Americans, who avoided a repeat of Finlands upset at the Four Nations Cup in Lake Placid, N.Y., in November. Finnish goalie Noora Raty made 58 saves in that one, but the three-time Olympian could stop just 40 of 43 U.Southern Illinois coach Barry Hinson regrets singling out one of his players in a postgame diatribe that has gone viral. And thats about it. After the Salukis 73-65 loss at Murray State on Tuesday night, Hinson called his players "uncoachable," "a bunch of mamas boys" and compared the disciplining of his young team to housebreaking a puppy. Hinson also called starting point guard Marcus Fillyaw "absolutely awful." "It was wrong of me to single out a specific player. I apologized to Marcus and team. I stand by the rest of my comments. Go Dawgs!" Hinson tweeted Wednesday ahead of a regularly scheduled news conference. Athletic director Mario Moccia did not immediately respond to messages from The Associated Press. Long known for being blunt, Hinson appeared calm at the start of his news conference after the Salukis (2- lost their fourth straight game. He became more wound up the longer he discussed a performance in which his team shot 42 per cent, committed 18 turnovers and were out-rebounded 40-29. "They wont let me coach them," Hinson said. "Any time I coach somebody they put their head down. Were soft. Weve been enabled for whatever reason. I got a bunch of mamas boys right now. And we just wont buck up and bow our necks, and weve got to get through that." Hinson added, "Im tired of coaching a guy and having him roll his eyes, or put his head down or feel sorry for himself. Im tired of that. This is big time. ... Weve got men and women serving our country. They dont get to take days off. Were going to college and getting it paid for." Several media outlets reported that senior centre Davante Drinkard later tweeted, "I cant believe the little man had the nerve to call us mamas boys. Smh. I guess this is where Our team learns to point the finger." The tweet was removved, according to media reports.dddddddddddd As of Wednesday afternoon, Drinkards Twitter account was allowing access only to confirmed followers. Fillyaw was scoreless with three fouls, two turnovers and one assist in 14 minutes. "Marcus was absolutely awful," Hinson said. "Thats about as PG-rated as I can say it. He was awful. Our guards were awful. Our three starting guards had one assist and seven turnovers. They must think its a tax credit. Its unbelievable how our starting guards played." Hinson added, "We made three turnovers tonight where we just came down and threw them the ball. I swear I thought one time that one of our players said, Merry Christmas." Hinson also blasted his big men, who combined to go 2 for 11. "My wife can score more than two buckets on 11 shots, because I know my wife will at least shot-fake one time," Hinson said, his voice rising. "But those guys arent listening. Theyre uncoachable right now." Hinson suggested that he will make a point of having his players do push-ups or run on a treadmill if they dont do as theyre told. "To me, when youve got a young team, its a lot like house training a puppy dog," Hinson said, rolling up a piece of paper and swatting the table in front of him. "You know what, when the dog does something wrong, Bad dog. Well, Im not going to hit em. Im not going to swat em. But, Bad dog, get on the treadmill. Thats probably what we need to do." Hinson, 52, is in his second season at Southern Illinois. He went 14-17 after inheriting a program hamstrung by academic problems and personnel issues. He had spent the previous four seasons in an administrative position with the Kansas basketball program. Before that, he had been head coach at Missouri State and Oral Roberts. Hes 221-165 in 13 seasons as a head coach. ' ' '
