The business end of the Premier League season is fast approaching and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson looks ahead to the latest round of top-flight fixtures.Arsenal travel to Bournemouth and Chelsea host Manchester United on an enticing Super Sunday line-up.The Magic Man predicted one correct score and six correct results last time out. Hell be hoping for another impressive showing in his latest set of predictions… Last weeks predictions Result Merses prediction Arsenal 0-0 Southampton 3-1 Leicester 2-0 Liverpool 2-1 Norwich 0-3 Tottenham 1-3 Sunderland 0-1 Man City 1-3 West Ham 2-0 Aston Villa 3-0 C Palace 1-2 Bmouth 3-2 Man Utd 3-0 Stoke 2-1 West Brom 1-1 Swansea 1-1 Everton 3-0 Newcastle 3-1 Watford 0-0 Chelsea 1-2 Chelsea v Manchester United - Super Sunday, 4pm Merse has backed Chelsea to extend their unbeaten run under Guus Hiddink This is a big game and a great way to end the weekend - a proper Super Sunday clash. Chelsea havent got much to play for - they cant win the league or get top four - so I was surprised they didnt open the game up at Watford and have a go. Thats been disappointing really. United probably had less possession than theyve had all season against Stoke and they won 3-0. Michael Carricks return was key, he got the ball forward quickly and provided better service. This will be a good game, and I fancy Chelsea to edge this one.PAUL PREDICTS: 3-2 (Sky Bet odds: 40/1) Take on Merse Think you know better than Merse? Take him on at Super 6 for the chance to win £250,000 here. Bournemouth v Arsenal - Super Sunday, 1.30pm Arsenal lack confidence and will be held by Bournemouth, says Merse Its a must, must, must, must, must-win game for Arsenal. They were Premier League favourites and now, all of a sudden, theyre looking over their shoulder. This is a good game for Arsenal as theyre not going to get kicked off the pitch by Bournemouth, but the Cherries have come into form of late.Benik Afobe will be a handful and hell be keen to impress against his former club. Because of that I fancy Bournemouth to get a point. Arsenal havent won in the league for a month, their confidence is shot at the moment and, to make things worse, Tottenham are above them!PAUL PREDICTS: 2-2 (Sky Bet odds: 12/1)Southampton v West Ham - Saturday Night Football, 5.30pm Do West Ham have the quality to break down Southampton? Southampton are doing well again. I was at the Emirates on Tuesday, they rode their luck at times but they dug in to go a fourth game without conceding. This has the makings of a good game, with West Ham in good form, six points adrift of the top four. Theyll have the FA Cup replay with Liverpool on their mind but this West Ham team are a good team.PAUL PREDICTS: 2-2 (Sky Bet odds: 18/1)Manchester City v Leicester - Saturday, 12.45pm Jamie Vardy could cause Manchester City problems at the Etihad I fancy Man City here but they will play right into Leicesters hands. Theyll have a go and Jamie Vardys pace will be too quick for the City defence. Sergio Aguero is just on fire, though, so Im going to go for City as I think theyll have too much.PAUL PREDICTS: 3-1 (Sky Bet odds: 10/1)Aston Villa v Norwich - Saturday, 3pm Norwich must beat Aston Villa to avoid further relegation worries What else is there to say about Aston Villa? They havent bought anybody in January, theyre bottom of the league and their best player got sent off at West Ham and faces a suspension. Norwich, meanwhile, dont seem to be able to win a game as well so this is a big match for them. If Norwich lose this theyll be in major trouble, despite bringing in fresh faces in January.PAUL PREDICTS: 1-1 (Sky Bet odds: 9/2 & Most popular Super 6 prediction: 1-1) Play Super 6 Think you can do better than Merse? Take him on at Super 6 for free here. Liverpool v Sunderland - Saturday, 3pm Merse has backed Liverpool to edge past Sunderland Liverpool are struggling at the moment, Jurgen Klopp has come in and nothing much has changed. They sort of rolled over at Leicester, if Im being honest. Theyve got a hard FA Cup game at West Ham coming up because Klopp rested his players for the first tie at Anfield, which confused me. Surely he should have gone the other way round and gone all out in the cup as theyre not going to win the league or get fourth. Im rather unconfidently going for Liverpool here, although Im not sure why.PAUL PREDICTS: 2-1 (Sky Bet odds: 15/2 & Most popular Super 6 prediction: 2-0)Newcastle v West Brom - Saturday, 3pm Newcastle will look to bounce back from a midweek defeat at Everton when they host West Brom This has the makings of a good game. West Brom under Tony Pulis rarely lose to sides at the bottom and they play well away from home. Saying that, Ive got to go for Newcastle to get the win. Theyre at home, theyve got all their new signings and they need to bounce back from their defeat at Everton. Its a must-win game for Newcastle, theyll be thinking they havent got too many of these sort of games remaining.PAUL PREDICTS: 2-1 (Sky Bet odds: 8/1 & Most popular Super 6 prediction: 2-1)Tottenham v Watford - Saturday, 3pm Will Watford struggle to contain a scintillating Spurs side? Spurs are absolutely flying. I cannot see anything other than a Tottenham win. Watford had a tough game against Chelsea and they got a good result with their 0-0 draw. I just feel theyve hit a patch of not scoring frequently. Perhaps people are starting to wise up to Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo, some have started playing three at the back against them. Watfords front two are always a threat but, as Ive said, Spurs are flying and theyll win here.PAUL PREDICTS: 3-1 (Sky Bet odds: 12/1 & Most popular Super 6 prediction: 3-1)Stoke v Everton - Saturday, 3pm Stoke ran out 4-3 winners in the corresponding fixture at Goodison Park Which Everton are going to turn up? Theyre like a bag of Revels, you just dont know whats coming. I backed them to beat Swansea a few weeks back and they lost, and then they beat Newcastle 3-0. They are unpredictable at best. Stoke, meanwhile, have had the week from hell, exiting both cups - one on penalties - and then getting rinsed by Manchester United. Everton score goals and I dont like going against Stoke at home so Im predicting a Desmond.PAUL PREDICTS: 2-2 (Sky Bet odds: 12/1 & Most popular Super 6 prediction: 1-1)Swansea v Crystal Palace - Saturday, 3pm Can Palace halt a run of seven Premier League games without a win? Palace have hit a bit of a brick wall, havent they? Alan Pardew is a great manager but he can go from winning six on the trot to losing six on the trot, there is no in between. Palace are without a win in seven in the league and Swansea look to have turned the corner but I fancy Emmanuel Adebayor to prove his worth for Palace and earn them a point.PAUL PREDICTS: 1-1 (Sky Bet odds: 9/2 & Most popular Super 6 prediction: 1-1)Think you know better than Merse? The CFLs leading rusher kept adding to his gaudy numbers this season and scored the winning touchdown with just over two minutes to play. The New Westminster, B.C., native plowed three yards into the end zone for the last score of a heated, see-saw battle between the two teams with the best records in the CFL. Mickelson barely made the cut but had the best round of the day with nine birdies and an eagle coupled with two bogeys to sit two shots behind leader Craig Lee of Scotland. Darnell Savage Jr. Super Bowl Jersey . Kozun faked to the forehand and beat Monsters starter, Calvin Pickard, pad side in the second round for the winner. Spencer Abbott also scored in the shootout for the Marlies (25-13-4).SAN FRANCISCO -- Madison Bumgarner wants another even-year World Series championship. Thats what drives him, not the milestones and accolades he piles up along the way.Bumgarner lined a key two-run double in the sixth and emphatically pumped his arms while yelling in celebration at second base, and the San Francisco Giants beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-3 on Friday night to maintain their slim lead for the second NL wild card.Brandon Belt added a three-run homer in the seven-run inning and Bumgarner (15-9) beat the Dodgers for the first time in seven starts since May 21, 2015. It was win No. 100 of his career.Thats a special thing getting the opportunity to do that, he said. Theres a lot more at stake. The Mets stayed one game ahead of the Giants for the top wild card, while San Francisco remained a game up on St. Louis for the second spot.Angel Pagan might have made the play of the night -- without his glove or bat. He body-slammed a male fan in the left field grass during the fourth inning after he ran onto the field offering white paper flowers. Pagan realized he had to do something to slow the man down, unsure whether there was any motive to harm a player.I was just trying to protect myself and protect my teammates. The guy was getting closed to my teammates, Pagan said. I guess it was very explosive. Us athletes, weve got that kind of strength. ...It worked.Buster Posey earlier shoved the man to the ground. Pagan, who held the man down until security reached him, received a roaring ovation from the sellout crowd when the half-inning ended and tipped his cap.Thats just weird. Any time somebody comes on the field youre a little bit uneasy, Posey said. He probably shouldve been charged with a flop.Once Rich Hill left the game, San Francisco pounced against Brandon McCarthy (2-3).Pinch-hitter Conor Gillaspie started things in the sixth with a go-ahead two-run double, and pinch-hitter Denard Spans RBI single chased McCarthy before he retired a batter. He had a walk followed by five straight hits. They just hit everything I threw, McCarthy said. Im angry but other than that it was so fast and so violent that I dont really know what kind of emotions to take from it.Bumgarner stopped a four-start winless stretch, allowing three runs and eight hits in 7 1/3 innings. He had been 0-4 in his previous six starts against Los Angeles, 0-2 this season.Kike Hernandez hit a go-ahead single off Bumgarner in the sixth, but the Giants answered big with the batss.ddddddddddddHill allowed two runs and six hits in five innings. He pitched for the first time since Sept. 20 also against the Giants after the Dodgers skipped his last turn as a precaution because he has dealt with blisters on his pitching hand this season.Manager Dave Roberts planned to monitor Hill and keep his outing short given he will draw Game 2 of the NL Division Series next week.Yasiel Puigs RBI double to left in the first scored Corey Seager, who made a headfirst slide into home to narrowly beat Pagans throw. Carlos Ruiz followed with an RBI single for a 2-0 lead. The Giants got it right back in the bottom half, on Poseys RBI single and a sacrifice fly by Pagan. Were on a mission right now, Pagan said. We already started the playoffs right here.Bumgarner and Puig got into it on Sept. 19 at Dodger Stadium, causing both benches to clear. Puig was booed during pregame introductions, though neither manager expected any further issue. The Giants are 14-4 at home against the Dodgers since the start of the 2015 season.WILLIE MAC AWARDBrandon Crawford and Javier Lopez shared the honor named for Hall of Famer Willie McCovey. They were presented the award in an on-field ceremony before the game for being most inspirational on the field and in the clubhouse as chosen by players, coaches and training staff. Its a huge honor for me winning this award, especially growing up a Giants fan, Crawford said. The Dodgers politely watched from their dugout.TRAINERS ROOMDodgers: Roberts said the Dodgers are considering four starters for the NLDS, giving themselves insurance if Clayton Kershaw or Hill were to have any health issues. Its a possibility, Roberts said. A lot depends on Game 1 and how it plays out. It doesnt make any sense to forecast what were going to do.Giants: INF Eduardo Nunez, nursing a right hamstring strain, missed his fourth straight game and wont play Saturday. Sunday seems unlikely as well but manager Bruce Bochy is hopeful he could be ready for a wild-card game. Nunez was scheduled to play easy catch, swing off the tee and try to do some light running on a treadmill.UP NEXTDodgers: Kershaw (12-3, 1.65 ERA) is 1-1 with a 0.86 ERA in four starts since coming off the disabled list Sept. 9. He is 18-7 with a 1.58 ERA in 34 career starts against the Giants.Giants: LHP Ty Blach was named Saturdays starter postgame. ' ' '
