Bell & Ross BR 05 gets GMT hands

Bell & Ross luxury replica watches is back with another update for the BR 05 - their take on a stainless steel sports watch with a one piece bracelet. It was only 2 years ago that Bell & Ross introduced the BR 05 to mixed reactions, although it seemed to be much longer. Watches are now an integral part of the brand's catalog and image. Now it's my turn to look at the new watches of the BR 05 series. I don't necessarily see it coming, but GMT is another complication that makes the most sense in a sports watch (especially one with a strong aviation identity).

This watch may look and feel very similar to the "standard" BR 05, but with a few subtle changes, which is what I wanted to focus on here. First, the dial is busier—and not just because of the inclusion of a large red-tipped GMT hand. The dial uses the same combination for application between the hour and minute markers, filled with stick-shaped Arabic numerals, but squeezed around the perimeter is a 24-hour scale for reading GMT. The addition of this chapter ring is a must from a practical point of view, but also makes the dial appear more compact and functional.

The lower half of the GMT chapter ring is made of stainless steel, representing "day time", and the upper half is black to match the dial. As I see it on the GMT reference ring, it's a subtle divide between day and night, and I wonder if it might be too subtle. Holding the watch, you'd be forgiven for thinking the case is the same as using the same 40mm diameter case, but with some very small scale changes. Inside the watch is the BR-CAL.325 movement based on the Sellita SW-330. This comes from the same range of automatic movements as the stock BR &񗜻&񗜻05, but with the added GMT complication. Assuming the difference between Bell & Ross's BR-CAL.321 and BR-CAL.325 is the same as the difference between Sellita's SW-300 and SW-330 movements, that would mean a half-millimeter increase in thickness. Despite the slight increase (just over 11mm in total), the case still feels slim, with height distributed over several surfaces and angles, each impeccably finished in alternating layers of polished and brushed steel.

In addition to being slightly thicker, the case diameter is also slightly larger, with a square case measuring 41mm in diameter, excluding the crown guard. Other dimensions such as lug-to-lug length and bracelet width and taper do not appear to have changed. All in all, this is very close to how the original BR 05 was worn, as the inclusion of a GMT movement would allow the proportions to remain roughly consistent at the same time.

The GMT option is a nice extension to the BR05 lineup. The extra hands and chapter ring markers have been added so discreetly that I can only now look at the time and date model and think it's a bit bare and the case changes are largely imperceptible.replica watches for sale
